NELSON NURSING DIVISION

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE OVERSEAS ANNUAL MEETING At the fourth annual meeting of the Nelson Nursing Division held in the Elite Hall there was a full attendance of members and intending members. Dr. D. C. Low, Divisional Surgeon, was in the chair. The secretary (Mrs J. Rodley) read the annual report and balance sheet. The year has ended with a credit balance in both general and social funds. A team consisting of Mrs M. Woolford (leader), Mrs Rodley, Mrs Willmot and Miss Christian competed at the Wellington Competitions held in November. Dr. Low congratulated the team on places and marks gained which are as follows: Jessie Moorehouse Shield, 3rd. Izard Shield, 3rd. Rhodes Cup 4th. Robieson Individual First Cup, 2nd Mrs J. Rodley. In August, the annual inspection was carried out by Mr C. Meachen of the Wellington Centre, who congratulated the Division on its work.

Dr. Low presented the Barltrop Cup to Miss M. Christian who won it 'this year. The members of the Division congratulate her on winning this cup. First aid certificates were also presented to Misses Win, Henderson, Downes and Brownson.

It was decided unanimously that Mrs Woolford be elected as the Divisional Superintendent. The Division wish to thank Mrs Burn for enabling them to hold bedmaking practices, the Rev. Mr Haultain for use of the All Saints’ gymnasium on Saturday afternoons, Miss P. Aydon for producing “Rose of Joy” which helped the social funds considerably, and the doctors of Nelson who have given their time in giving lectures during the year. The Division thanked Dr. Low for presiding over the meetings and conducting examinations.

The cases for 1936 are as follows: First aid on duty, 69; first aid not on duty, 51 and private nursing cases 5, a total of 125 cases which included 3 major cases. The members have had 71 public duties and parades. The meeting closed, Mrs Woolf ord thanking Dr. Low for presiding and members of the Division for work and interest during the year.
