BULLER COUNTY COUNCIL
GOLDEN JUBILEE TO BE CELEBRATED The golden jubilee of the Buffer County Council will be celebrated by a gathering of past and present councillors on 4th January, which will be the sixieth anniversary of the first meeting of the council. A decision to mark the occasion by a suitable social gathering was made at the monthly meeting of the County Council yesterday, and it was decided to hold a larger jubilee celebration in the form of a picnic on 18th January.
The council was reminded of the arrival of its jubilee by a letter from Mr D. Moloney, a well-known Westport resident, who has a local reputation for his knowledge of early history of Westport and the Buffer district.
