CHRISTMAS PARTY
NELSON TOWNSWOMEN’S GUILD EX J 0 VAB LE G A TII If RING A very happy Christmas party was held recently by the members of the Nelson Townswomen’g Guild at the Marsdcn House Library, which was gaily decorated for the occasion with uowls of Iceland Poppies and roses. There was a record attendance and the president- (Mrs Page) extended a hearty welcome and the compliments of the season to all present. The programme commenced with two pleasiug items by the musical circle, “To a Wild Rose” (McDowell) and “Sweet Spring Flowers” (Wheeler), under the eonductorship of Mrs 11. Claught.on.
Mrs P. Noble’s vocal solo “La Sereuata” (Braga) with violin obligato by Airs Vaughan was a special treat. The playreading circle then staged a very amusing one act play “Waiting for the Bus.” The costumes worn by these taking part caused a great deal of merriment and altogether the play was thoroughly enjoyed. This was followed by a double quartette “The Two Clocks” rendered by members of the musical circle. A dainty afternoon tea served by the Guild committa: made a plcasaiit break as did the social half hour which followed.
Christmas carols, Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem brought a very cheery meeting to an end and also closed the activities of the Guild for this year.
