RACING NOTES

OTAKI-MAORI MEETING PROSPECTS FOR TO-MORROW (By “Cuddle”) The Otaki-Maori meeting will be held at Otaki to-morrow (Saturday). Good acceptances have been received, and the fields are of a uniform size. The weather reports are for unsettled conditions and the track may be affected. The betting is under the single pool system. OTAURA KING FAVOURED Otaura King should set the public off on the right foot by winning the Hack Hurdles from Beau Gallante. LITTLE FORM IN MAIDEN PLATE Of the fourteen horses in the Maiden Plate there is practically no form to guide the investor. Diamond Cutter is reputed to be particularly speedy and will probably make amends for his failures at Woodville. Mea Mea, First Spec and Trimden look the best of the remainder. THE HACK SIX Mazinni, Mittie and Liane are the form horses for the Hack Six and should fight out the finish. Golden Chest might be a surprise packet. MARTARA FORM HORSE IN MEMORIAL There are eleven acceptors for the Memorial Handicap of one and a quarter miles and it should be a “sitter” for Martara. Cuddle, in view of his Auckland Cup race, will be watched closely and to have any show in the big two-mile should be runnerup to Martara. Sunee and Hunting Queen will probably be third and fourth choice of the public and should run accordingly. OTAKI HANDICAP Essex and Export will doubtless dispute favouritism in the Otaki Handicap and may divide the spoils. Cricket looks to be the only one liable to bother either of these two. WINNER HARD TO SORT OUT

In the Waiorangomai Handicap of seven furlongs the betting should be well distributed, with the winner hard to sort out. Geital is the first one to take the eye, while Darecourt is nicely weighted and running over his best distance. Hunting Lodge, Jubilee Song and Lord Moutoa will all carry strong support, and in what promises to be a good race they may finish — Darecourt, Geital, Jubilee Song. RAHUI HANDICAP A rather poor class has accepted in the Rahui Hack Handicap of one mile. Revival looks the pick and may be first choice over Dorado and Windward. FIVE FURLONG SPRINT The Reke Reke Hack Handicap of five furlongs has drawn the largest field and will be a great scurry. Diamond Cutter, Mittie, Mazzini and Alloa can all scamper a good five and should fight it out. If there is a surprise in store it may come from Lifeguard.
