AIR RACE

ADELAIDE CENTENARY FIRST STAGE COMPLETED FIVE WOMEN PARTICIPATING (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, Ist December. The stage of the Adelaide Centenary Air Race from Brisbane to Sydney was completed to-day without mishap in excellent flying conditions. Thirty machines competed, five entrants being women pilots, Mrs H. B. Bonney, Misses May Bradford, Freda Thompson, Nancy Bird and Ivy Pearce. The race started punctually at Brisbane and all the competitors had reached Sydney by 2.30 p.m. Passengers are accompanying 22 of the pilots. Well-known competitors include H. F. Broadbent, R. Godsell, A. Tweddle, H. Hughes, P. Knapman, P. McMahon and C. Pratt.
