MORTGAGE ADJUSTMENT

HEAVY APPLICATIONS INDICATED ATTORNEY-GENERAL’S STATEMENT (By Telegraph—Preßß Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. No general statistical returns of applications for financial relief under the Mortgagors and Lessees Rehabilitation Act have yet been received in Wellington, but there are indications of a fairly substantial request for farm and property mortgage adjustment. The AttorneyGeneral, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, said that the only returns of applications available so far were from the Christchurch district. In that centre there were approximately 6000 applications for mortgage adjustment. This in itself gave an indication of the ultimate aggregate for the whole of the Dominion. Mr Mason mentioned that the Court of Review had been sitting in Wellington for the past three weeks dealing with urgent cases!
