THE QUEENSLAND TEAM

NELSON INCLUDED IN ITINERARY

Advice has been received by the New Zealand Bowling Association that a party of Queensland bowlers will visit New Zealand during January and February, and the itinerary for the tour through the Dominion has been drawn up. When Mr J. Redmond, of the Wellington Bowling Club, was in Australia last winter, he was advised that a team would probably cross the Tasman and he has done everything possible to advance the suggestion in New Zealand. He will act as agent for the team and is handling arrangements for their visits to the various centres.

The team, which will consists of from twenty to twenty-four bowlers, accompanied by six ladies, is not an official Queensland Bowling Association team, having been organised by the Isis Club, but it is commended to the New Zealand Association by the Queensland Association, and Mr Colin Campbell, a vice-president of the Queensland Association, will be a member.

The party will arrive at Auckland on Monday, 11th January, at 8 a.m., and will remain in that centre for three days. On 14th January the visitors will travel to Hamilton and go on to the Waitomo Caves later in the day.' On the following day they Will go to Rotorua and will remain in the Lakes district until 18th January, visiting points of interest in the thermal region. On Monday, 18th January, they will go to the Chateau Tongariro and then to Wanganui. From Wanganui, Palmerston North will be visited and Wellington will reached at midday on Thursday, 21st January. Lyttelton will be reached on the following Sunday and from there the party will go to Invercargill, where two days will be spent. Dunedin is the next centre to be visited, and then Oamaru, Timaru, and Christchurch will be visited in turn. From Christchurch the tour will be continued through Arthur’s Pass to Greymouth and Westport. Nelson will then be visited, and from there the visitors will return to Wellington via Picton on Sunday, 7th February. They will sail from Wellington by the Awatea two days later. During the tour bowls will be played in the following order:— Auckland.—l2th and 13th January. Hamilton—l4th January. Rotorua.—l6th January. Wanganui.—l9th January, Palmerston North—2oth January. Wellington.—22nd and 23rd January. Invercargill.—26th January. Dunedin.—2Bth January. C(a,maru.— 29th January. Timaru.—3oth January. Christchurch.—lst February. Greymouth.—3rd February. Westport—4th February. Nelson—6th February. The secretary of the Nelson Centre has received advice that the party will arrive at Nelson from Westport at 4 p.m. on Friday, sth February. The party will consist of 20 to 24 players and six ladies.
