TASMAN LODGE MEETING The fortnightly meeting of Tasman Lodge No. 123 was held in the Rechabite Hall on Tuesday evening, the N.G. Bro. H. M. Nicol presiding over a good attendance of members. Bro. G. C. Gordon, D.D.G.M., visited the lodge in his official capacity and was accorded the honours of the Order. * . Reports as to the progress being made by sick members were received and sick pay amounting to £3 3s 4d was passed for payment. One member was reported as having been admitted to and discharged from hospital since the last meeting. Advice was received from the returning officer that Bro. G. C. Gordon had been elected unopposed as Grand Lodge representative to attend the Grand Lodge session in Palmerston North in March next. The N.G. on behalf of the lodge congratulated Bro. Gordon on his election.
The position of recording secretary having become vacant, Bro. Russell was duly installed into this office by Bro. Gordon, with the assistance of Bro. U. J. Gay, D.D.G.S., and Bro. J. C. Brough, D.D.G.M. Bro. H. A. Burn was appointed a further delegate to the Friendly Societies’ Council. Bro. Gordon in replying to the welcome extended to him, thanked the members of the lodge for their loyalty and the officers of the district for their assistance during his term of office. He stressed the importance of fostering the social side of the lodge meetings as it was by this means that the interest of the members was retained and the consequent good attendances at the meetings.
