CHILDREN FOR HEALTH CAMPS

<7 AN EXPLANATION

Health camps supported by the National Health Stamp Campaign are not for the purpose of giving holidays to children in general, but as a means of providing for those less happily circumstanced. The great majority of the children in our Health camps have been selected by school medical officers, and it was the experience last year of one of the largest health camp organisations that of 1,200 children who were medically examined a large percentage though not suffering from any specific ailment were far from being in robust health, while approximately 15 per cent, were very delicate as a result of previous illnesses, undernourishment and other causes. Comparatively well-nourished children are admitted only where parents or guardians are unable to give them a holiday with change of air and environment, and when accommodation is available without prejudice to those classified as being in delicate health. The average age of 614 children admitted to one of the larger health camps was 9 years 3 months.
