MOTOR COLLISION
STUDENTS SERIOUSLY INJURED (United Press Association) PALMERSTON N„ This Day. Severe and extensive injuries were sustained by two Massey College students on Saturday night when the motor-cycle they were riding came into collision with a car driven by Mr Alfred Henry Martin, of Umutoi. - The motor-cycle was being driven by John Bolton, who had Leonard Paton-McDonald as pillion passenger and the accident happened in the vicinity of the Girls’ High School, Fitzherbert avenue, as the pair were riding out of the city. Bolton suffered a fractured right knee and extensive wounds to the right leg and head. McDonald had his wrist, thigh and collarbone broken.
Both young men were removed by Free Ambulance to a private hospital from which it was reported last evening that, considering the seriousness of the injuries, the condition of the patients was satisfactory. Bolton’s parents reside in Sydney, while McDonald hails from New Plymouth. After the impact both car and motor-cycle careered across the excavation that is at present being made in Fitzherbert avenue for the laying of the new water main.
