Macindoe (secretary) and Captains Worm!'. r "'' v Holm, Meltzer, Watson and Knowles, suggested to the Minister a r.vrib.of points round the New Zealahd coast where radio beacons would be desirable. The Minister said he was in full agreement with the proposals, and informed the deputation that the work would go ahead as quickly as possible. A start would be made with two beacons, to be placed at Baring Head and Cape Campbell, and others would be placed for these in about a months’s time. He assured the deputation that the only reason for the delay since he had taken office was that the radio engineer of the Post and Telegraph Department was abroad investigating radio matters, including marine beacons, and it was the desire of the Government that equipment in accordance with the latest world’s practice should be installed. Now that this information was available, he was as desirous as the members of the deputation that progress should he made as rapidly as possible.
