STRIKES CONTINUING
400,000 IDLE IN BELGIUM TROOPS OCCUPY FACTORIES* (Uuited Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 19th June, 12.20 p.m.) BRUSSELS, 18th June. Twenty thousand struck, bringing the total idlers in Belgium to 400,000. A determined but futile effort was made to induce transport workers in the Belgian back country to join the strike. Troops occupied many Liege factories in order to prevent sabotage. Strikers are holding up travellers’ cars, demanding contributions to the strike funds. STORE WORKERS RESUME (Received 19th June, 12.20 p.m.) PARIS, 18th June. The strike at the Louvre department stores has ended. BOMBS AT BARCELONA (Received 19th June, 12.20 p.m.) BARCELONA, 18th June. Office and store employees, accountants and waiters struck. Many shops are closed and the newspapers lack staffs, but the food supply is assured. Several bombs were thrown without effect.
