“TAGS” ON TENDERS
REFUSED BY PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Public Works Department has intimated to tenderers for departmental contracts that in future it will not allow “tags” to be added to tenders making provision that tenders are subject to adjustment in the light of amendments to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act. In recent months it has become customary for such a proviso to be added to tenders and some of those received by the Public Works Department for the erection of the Styx railway overbridge were “tagged” in this way. None of the tenders for this work has been accepted and the contract is to be advertised again with the instruction that no “tags” are to be attached to tenders.
