REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION
FULL BACKING OF RUGBY UNION (United Press Association) DARGAVILLE, 17th June. As a sequel to the decision of the management committee of the Northern Wairoa Rugby Union to take no action regarding the incident when a referee ordered off a spectator for alleged objectionable language, a deputation from the Referees’ Association waited upon the union last night. After hearing the deputation the union discussed the question and a resolution was passed assuring the association that it had the full support of the union at all times. An amendment assuring the association of the full support of the union, but asking that referees use the drastic weapons at their disposal with extreme discretion was defeated.
