THE LITTLE ENTENTE
CO-ORDINATION OF DEFENCES FIVE DAYS’ CONFERENCE (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 15th June, 11.0 a.m.) BUCHAREST, 14th June. In accordance with arrangements, the chiefs of the Czechoslovakian and Jugoslav armies, accompanied by representatives of the principal sections, arrived and will begin a five days’ conference, aiming at co-ordination of the Little Entente’s defences. Problems being discussed include the unification of armaments and the establishment of new armament works in Rumania and Jugoslavia, which will co-operate with Czechoslovakian’factories. The convocation of the conference is regarded in diplomatic circles as an indication of the seriousness with which the Little Entente views the situation in consequence of the (Weakening of the League and the breakdown of collective security. The “Daily Mail’s” Bucharest correspondent stated last week that important decisions were reached at a secret conference of the heads of the Little Entente, when King . Carol of Rumania entertained Prince Paul of Jugoslavia, and Dr. Benes, Czechoslovakian President. . It was understood that in view of the grave European situation and events in France, the Entente would be transformed into a complete alliance, resulting in the chiefs and general staffs of the three countries meeting on 14th June. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Bucharest correspondent said it believed that the possibility of the Hapsburg restoration, which the Entente fears, was discussed.
