HIT AND RUN MOTORIST
SEQUEL IN COURT (By Telegraph—Press Association) GISBORNE, This Day. The hit-and-run driver who ran into a girl cyclist, appeared before Mr Walton, S.M., this morning and was fined a total of £ls and his license was cancelled for twelve months. Accused was a Maori, Osborne Hura, who pleaded guilty. Detective McWhirter stated that the speed of accused’s car was described as terrific, while a friend who Had 1 been in town with him on the day of the accident, said accused was so intoxicated that he prevented him using his car until later in the day. Counsel said accused’s recollection of the incident was very vague, although he remembered hitting something.
