MOTUEKA
LADIES’ HOCKEY MATCH MOTUEKA VERSUS MOUTERE (From Our Own Correspondent) This game was played at Motueka in ideal weather conditions, but on slow ground. Moutere ran out the winners by eight to one, but the game was really closer than the scores indicated. The hockey was of a high order, Moutere’s display being equal to that of many representative matches. Moutere as a team were excellent and one can hardly single out any particular players for special mention. Motueka has the material for a strong team, but players need coaching on finer points. If this were accomplished they would be a very hard team to beat. Special mention should be made of Motueka’s goalie, Mrs Wilson, who had a very heavy day’s work and did it well. ■
Messrs H. H. Smith and W. E. Snow were the referees.
