PRICE OF FRUIT

(To The Editor) Sir, —The Canterbury Fruitgrowers intend to tell the Government that the (trice of fruit is too low, and to ask that a higher price be arranged for. The Government already know more than the Canterbury growers can tell them, and I think the Canterbury growers ought to exercise a little patience and not trouble men who are overworked already. Much can be done by the growers. For instance, they can feed pigs on some of the rubbish they at present sell; they can refuse to sell the fruit below the cost of production. There are other things besides, but all some growers think of is to beggar his neighbour and get in before him, and put all his rubbish on the market. —I am, etc., J. A. CARDNO. 23rd May.
