SIX YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT

A sentence of six years’ imprisonment with hard labour was passed by Mr Justice Fair on Frederick Morrison, aged 54, retired, for indecent assaults on a boy. In 1932 the accused was sentenced to three years’ reformative detention for a similar offence. The Judge said that the accused had arranged for the boy to live with him, and had repeated the offences of which he had previously been found guilty. “It seems that nothing can be said to palliate these offences, which, continued over a period of four months,” said the Judge. “An exemplary sentence must be imposed.” The accused was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment on each of three charges, the terms to be cumulative.
