EASY WIN FOR Y.M.C.A. THISTLE DEFEATED BY SIX POINT MARGIN Y.M.C.A. had an easy win over Thistle on Saturday, defeating them by 7 goals to 1. In the first half Y.M.C.A. dominated the play, the half time score being 4-0. Thistle played with more vigour in the second half and their efforts were rewarded when Campbell goaled, though Y.M.C.A. notched three more to make their total seven. On resumption Thistle pressed hotly, Fergusson transferring to Cuthbert, who shot, but Kirby fisted out. Soon after Knight also put in a good run for Thistle, but he lost the ball to Smalley. Hobern and Smalley were prominent for Y.M.C.A., while Campbell was the mainstay ot Thistle’s defence. Y.M.C.A. gradually worked the play to Thistle’s end of the field, and Ellwood shot Webby fisted out but O. Du Feu was handy and slammed the ball into the net irom three yards out. Y.M.C.A. 5, Thistle 0. For the next ten minutes, play was very even, and though Thistle were making determined efforts to score, Y.M.C.A. were always successful in repelling their attacks, Bothwell and M. Cuthbert being outstanding. Y.M.C.A’s. sixth goal came when Ellwood ran strongly down the left wing and put in a high shot out of'Webby’s reach. Y.M.C.A. G, Thistle 0. Shortly after Ellwood again goaled for Y.M.C.A. Thistle’s solitary point came when Campbell, who had come near to scoring on several occasions, carried the ball into Y.M.C.A’s circle, and slammed a terrific shot into the net, the game ending with the score, Y.M.C.A. 7, Thistle 1. Mr J. Guy was the referee.

Celtic and Athletic met on No. 1 ground, and after an excellent game Ceitic prevailed by 3 goals to 1.
