MAGISTRATE’S COURT
The following cases were heard before Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court this morning:— For procuring liquor during tlie currency of a prohibition order David IT. Botlnvell was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon. Arthur G. Pierson, for driving a ear at night without a tail light, was ordered to pay costs 10s. William K._Keir, licensee of the Rising Sun Hotel, charged with selling liquor after hours, was fined £3 and costs 10s. Alan K. Newton, licensee of tlie Dominion Hotel, was charged with selling liquor after hours. An employee was charged with supplying liquor after hours. Senior-Sergeant Petersen said that this was the licensee’s first offence and it was a well conducted house. The defendant was fined £2 and costs and the employee was convicted and discharged. Robert Brownlie (dog tax collector at Tnhunanui), represented by Mr W. V. Rout, prosecuted George Westrupp for failing to register a dog. The defendant was fined 10s and costs. The Court was cleared and evidence was heard in the case in which Louis Francis Charlett was charged with carnally knowing a girl under the age of 16 years. The accused pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.
