SMUGGLING IN CHINA

In the House of Commons Air Anthony Eden, Foreign Secretary, announced that the British Ambassador (Sir Robert H. Clive) at Tokio had brought under ihe notice of Japan smuggling in North China. (i The Tokio correspondent of “The Times” disclosed that Britain’s representations had some effect. Foreign office officials last week declared that smuggling did not concern Japan, but they now state they are seriously examining the question and considering the advisability of sending high officials from Tokio to investigate the situation on the spot.
