MOTUEKA BRANCH The last niontlily meeting of the Motucka Women's Institute was fairly well attended . by members, who were presided over by Mrs Tweedy (president). Mrs Tweedy welcomed several new members for the next season’s activities. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs McFarlane on the death ol her father, all members standing out of respect. The business and pleasure derived from the half-yearly Council meeting
hold at Murchison was fully discussed, and the comprehensive report presented by Mrs Ilobison (delegate) was attentively listened to. Over twenty members from Motucka attended the conference. It was unanimously decided to send the president (Mrs Tweedy) as delegate to the Dominion Conference at Dunedin in July, and a round table talk will be held next month to discuss the remits coming forward for the conference. On Thursday. 4th June, a social evening will he held at the residence of Mrs 0. Atkins, R.iwaka, when all members and their escorts are cordially in vited. Ihe Institute’s third birthday will he held on Tuesday evening, Oth June, at the Institute Hall, when members and friends are requested to attend. The roll call was entertaining and helpful, being ini. promptu one-minute speeches on popular subjects, such as: Plnnket-system, Health Camps, autumn, Anznc Stamp campaign, band concerts, hop-picking, musical competitions, should husbands accompany wives on holiday, and other subjects Mesdames and Miss Cooper served a dainty enjoyable afternoon tea, and the singing of the National Anthem brought a pleasant afternoon to a close.
