DAMAGE IN WEST AUSTRALIA
ROOF OF BUILDING BLOWN OFF PANIC AMONG OCCUPANTS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 22nd Mav, 10.30 a.m.) PERTH, This Day. A violent storm swept the southern part of the state. Many buildings in Perth were damaged and scores of river craft were wrenched from their moorings and piled up alongside the foreshore. The wmcl reached a velocity of 56 miles an hour and rain fell in torrents. Broken electric light and power held up tram traffic. Panic reigned in a two-storey building at Guildford, which was almost demolished by a willywilly. The roof was carried off and blown into the street 150 feet from the building the fifteeninch walls of which collapsed.
