LONG-STANDING DISPUTE
POLICE FORCE MEMBERS AND INSPECTOR PROBABLE SUPREME COURT CASE (By Telegraph—Press Association) GISBORNE, This Day. A long-standing dispute between tlie Inspector of Police and two union members of the police force in Gisborne will probably ho ventilated in the Supreme Court next week. A board of appeal, constituted under the Police Force Act, sat in Gisborne on Wednesday and yesterday to deal with the appeal brought against an earlier decision of the Inspector. The board comprised Mr Miller, b.ivi., Mr Somerset Smith, J.P., of Napier, and Inspector R. Ward, of Auckland, and the sittings lusted until lute each night. Proceedings were interrupted yesLciduv by tlie serving of a writ of certiorari and prohibition By Mr L. 1. Burnaid, counsel for the junior members of the force concerned in the proceedings, seeking to restrain members of the Appeal Board from proceeding further on account of certain alleged irregularities arising prior to their appointment.
