ARBITRATION COURT
CLAIM AGAINST WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL COMPENSATION AWARDED (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Arbitration Court to-dav heard a claim for compensation by Lily Louisa Weavers against the Wellington City Council in respect of the death of her husband while engaged in his work ill the milk department of the Council. It was submitted that he fell dead from the combined effects of work and from heart disease. He had three children aged 10, six ancl three years and earned £275 a year. Admitting that it was not possible for the Corporation successfully to contend it was not liable, Mr O’Shea suggested that an amount . awarded should be paid to the Public Trustee for him to apportion the money to plaintiff and the cliildern. Judgment was given accordingly for the amount claimed, £IOOO and costs including funeral and medical expenses.
