When the Man in the Moon had shown Richard and Ted the earth shining like a silver ball in the sky, and had told them how he made his full face into profile, he announced that he would take them: to a place where they could get a wonderful view of the huge craters which the giant volcanoes had formed. So he led them along passages until he came to an opening from which ran a long flight of steps. “This* is the way," he said. “You will find it a bit dark, but follow me closely, and you will be all right.”
