MOURNING FOR LATE KING
TO BE DISCONTINUED AFTER 1 EASTER (United PreßH Association—Bv Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 27th March, 1.40 p.m.) LONDON, 26th March. The Queen, through Lady Howard do Walden, informed a hundred leading London hostesses that she wished everyone not connected with Court to abandon mourning for the late King George after Easter. The news which assures a brilliant London season, was received with enthusiasm by- • dressmakers, florists hotelkeepers and ostlers. It will prove a fillip to the fashion business which has lately been languishing owing to the uncertainty of spring and summer dress requirements. The date of the coronation will be announced shortly. Early in May, 1937, is reported to be favoured, in which case the Associated Press understands that the Imperial Conference will probably be held in April.
