Dlaunsell, fined William Todd £3, costs 10s, and £2, costs 10s, on, two charges that lor the purpose of obtaining employment under the Unemployment Act he made false statements that Elizabeth Todd was his wife and was maintained by him. Senior-Sergeant C. Petersen said that defendant was a widower who had supported the woman in the case, and believed that lie was entitled to the married man’s wage. He had worked on the Takaka Hill. In consequence of his false statements he had secured £SO Os 9d from the fund more than he was entitled to. The depletion of the Unemployment Fund in this manner was a serious matter.
