THE ANNUAL MEETING REVIEW OF PAST SEASON GAME OF GOOD STANDARD At the annual meeting of the Nelson Football Association last evening Mr A. E. Coxhill, president, was in the chair and there was ail attendance of 23 The annual report of the secretary, Mr K. McKenzie stated: The season 1935 was a very good one insofar as the standard of football was concerned, and it was very pleasing to see so many young players participating in the Association game. There were 10 teams competing in the various competitions as follows: senior four teams, junior four teams, schools eight teams. Three senior and three junior teams were consistently strong while one team of each grade was decidedly weak and the Association will require to use every means available to secure a minimum of four teams in the senior and junior grades. A further attempt will have to be made to have tlie Association game introduced into Nelson College, and allow boys who have been playing the game for several school seasons, to carry on with the Association game, and assist in building up a strong junior competition. Unfortunately the local Association Were unable to arrange for a representative game in Nelson during the season, but Y.M.C.A., winners of tho senior competition had a very enjoyable game with Eunanga, a team from the West Coast district, the local team easily defeating the visitors. The local Association were unsuccessful in their endeavours to secure a yisit either from the Buller or from Marist (Wellington) team. Trophies were won as folows: — Senior Championship, Y.M.C.A. Senior McCarthy Cup, Athletic Old Boys. Senior Nelson Cup, Y.M.C.A, Senior Six-a-Side, Y.M.C.A. Senior Charity Cup, Athletic Old Boys. junior Championship, Thistle.
