POLITICAL SITUATION
MR FORBES INTERVIEWED AWAITING SPEKCII FROM THE . THRONE (By Telegraph) . (From “The Mail’s’’ Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, 25th March. Mr Forbes was not inclined to discuss the political situation at any length this morning, confining himself to the remark that an interesting time was ahead. He said that no arrangeinent had been made yet regarding the holding of a Nationalist caucus, but he had no doubt that one would be held before long. He with other members of the Opposition was waiting to hear the Speech from the Throne. Until then, it was not possible to anticipate what the Government had in mind. He took it that the present session was to he regarded as an emergency one, and vhat the main session would be held some time later, probably in -Tune. Mr Forbes was asked if he cared to comment on the suggestion made by the Ri'iino Minister (the Hon. M. J. Savage) that the Address-in-Replv debat i should be curtailed. He said lie was not in a position to say what attitude the Opposition would take up, although lie took it that the Opposition, would be keen to get on with tile legislation. He made it clear that the election of Mr W. E. Barnard as Speaker would not be challenged by the Opposition.
Mr Coales was engaged in settling down into his new quarters, and made no comment regarding the political situation. .
