(Received 26th March, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, 25th March. Recovering from her prostration Mrs Somerville relates that she and her husband were dining at 9.15 p.m. when there was a knock on the glass porch door which her husband answered. She heard a man ask if he was Somerville, then a fusillade of shots. The wind had blown out the ball lamp. She called to her husband and received no reply. She found him dead in the porchway with four wounds in his body. Mrs Somerville states that she heard the retreating steps of two men. The “News Chronicle’s” Skibberecn correspondent says that pinned to ViceAdmiral Somerville’s body "’as a card staling, “This is a warning to all British recruiting agents.”
