EVERYDAY THINGS
ARCHITECTS’ EXHIBITION The Royal Institute of British Architects are going to have an exhibition of “everyday things,” which will show that inexpensive household objects and equipment 'can be well designed and of good quality, reports the London correspondent of the “Manchester Guardian.” Something of the kind was included in the British Art Exhibition at Burlington House the other year, hut most of the space there was given to objects on a larger scale and of a more expensive character. The exhibits in the coining exhibition will be chosen by an independent committee of architects from articles than can be bought in shops and stores, and the retail prices will he given in the catalogue. The requirements of a man who owns a house costing about £ISOO is being taken as a standard in choosing the objects. Architects nowadays cannot design all the things they install in a building, hut their clients often consult them about the selection of furniture and portable objects. The exhibition will reveal the ideas of the architect in his capacity- as selector in the field of industrial manufacture.
