PROFESSIONAL BOXING
MUDGWAY DEFEATS McMAHoN (B.v Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, 23rd March. A professional boxing contest between Neville Mudgway, of Wailii, iOst llJib, and Jack McMahon, of Palmerston North, lOst 41b, resulted in a win for Mudgway on a technical dsnock-out in the ninth round. McMahon made the pace until the .eighth round, when a right swing to the jaw sent him down, for six. Twice more McMahon was sent to the canvas without taking the count, and he was very groggy when the gong ended the round. In the next round three more right swings sent him down three times without the count. He was helpless and the referee intervened.
