TOLL OF THE ROAD MINISTER ANALYS.S FIGURES (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Tiiis Day. Statistics analysed in great detail were issued to-dav by the Transport Minister (the Hon. R. Semple) relating to fatal accidents in the years 1934 and 1935 The total number of accidents in 1934 were L7l and m 1935 168. Classification shows 30 per cent, of the fatal accidents occurred between 4 p.m and 7 p.m. and 36 per rent, are for Saturday and Sunday combined. Over half the fatal accidents occmred at dusk or after dark.

The major causes of fatal accidents, in less detail than in a number of oilier tables, show that breaches of traffic laws accounted for 163 in 1931 and 134 in 1935. Miscellaneous causes 28 and 39 respectively, -pedestrians at fault, 30, and 30 and undefined 14 and 21 respectively.
