ROBBERY NOT PROVED
CHARGE DISMISSED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, 30th January. Holding that the only evidence .-he could regard was that concerning robbery. Mr J. 11. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday afternoon, dismissed a charge of robbery with violence against Robert James Hale, a printer, aged 22, and James Edw'ard Meaclem, a steward, aged 21. A charge of assault causing bodily harm had been withdrawn by the. police, and the Magistrate remarked that the way was open for the starring of fresh proceedings for assault. The prosecution followed a disturbance in the York Billiard Saloon, Manners street, on 20th December, when Joseph Hall, the proprietor, was injured.
