CITY ELECTRIC SUPPLY
DELAY IN COBB DEVELOPMENT REFERENCE AT CITY COUNCIL MEETING! Referring to the delay in the progress of the Hume Pipe Company’s development'of the Cobb Valley hydro-electric scheme Councillor G. P. Russell at last night’s meeting of the City Council said the Council should seriously consider the extension of its own plant. He wished to know the Electrical Engineer’s views on the urgency of increased power. The position was indefinite and he was anxious about the matter.
Mr E. Fleming, the Electrical Engineer, said Mr J. G. Lancaster, engineer to the Power Board had told him that further advice was expected shortly. If nothing was done the position would be serious in the winter of 1937, but he suggested that the Company lie given until the end of March before the Council took further action. If it was necessary then for the Council to decide to increase its present plant, it would allow time to have the necessary machinery imported and in operation to meet the demands of 1937.
