AFTER THE FUNERAL

CROWDS ATTEND MEMORIAL SERVICES RUGBY, 29th January. Large numbers of people who witnessed the funeral procession in London left after the procession had passed in order to visit neighbouring churches, in most of which memorial services were held. The most largely attended of these were in St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. Both were crowded, and at the former, where special additional accommodation was provided, it is .estimated that 0000 people attended; many of them having entered the Cathedral for silent prayer long before the service began. At St. Margaret’s, Westminster, the official church of the House of Commons, members of Parliament attended a memorial service conducted by the chaplain to the Speaker, Canon Carnegie.
