NO MINIMUM WAGE FOR PUBLIC WORKS [By Telegraph—Press Association] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. A denial that the Government hlad decided on a minimum wage for Public Works jobs was made by the Minister r of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong! Mr Armstrong’s attention was drawn to a statement- by Mr Lark, secretary of the Auckland Unemployed Workers’ Association, that the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, had promised a minimum wage of 14s 8d daily. “The Government has not decided on any minimum wage at all,” declared Mr Armstrong, “and neither has Mr Semple.” Mr Armstrong added that lie would bo going to Auckland next week.
