- - ——— CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING [By Telegraph—Press Association] DUNEDIN, 29th January. Although robbed of much interest through the absence in Australia of the two Dunedin stars, Jarvis and Mathieson, some excellent swimming was seen at the Otago swimming centre’s championship meeting this evening. No sensational times were put up, but generally speaking, they were very good, the best nerformance of the evening being that ot R, Goddcs in winning the 220 yards men s breaststroke championship, his time for the distance being 3min. 13sec., which is cue second better than the record held by 0. B. Lewis. The best race of the evening was the 100 yards men’s championship, won by J. 0. O’Driscoll, who only just managed to stave off a last-minute challenge by E. Toasc to win by a touch, llis time was 59 2-sscc. O’Driscoll also won (lie 200 yards championship, so that lie now has three Otago titles to his credit, having won the 440 yards on'Monday evening, O’Driscoll, who continues to show improved form, won the 220 yards in 2min. 32 3-ssec, There were only three starters in the women’s. 100 yards froc-stylo championship. which was won by Miss M.
