J. York, C. B. Webby, L. A. Higgins, F. W. Grceiislade and W. Max. Tile foliowing reports on the Motueka and Waimea schemes were received : MOTUEKA REPORT The Motueka engineer, Mr Henderson, reported as follows : "December has been a quiet month, hut good business has been done which will not eventuate for a month or two, and there is a general progress. "The units generated were our maximum, being 67,110, which beats August by 490, and is 6.4 per cent, above November. This shows a very satisfactory outlook. The ittjrease, of course, is due to seasonal work, apple spraying. January will be much smaller as I anticipate there is little seasonal work this month. “Hydro Plant: Headworks and pipe line in good order. Generating plant is operating excellently. The voltage regulator is complete and apparently satisfactory, but has not been in operation long enough to pronounce satisfactory. “Diesel Plant: The erection of this plant with the new crank-shaft is in progress and will be complete about the middle of January. “Reticulation is in good order. Considerable alteration will, however, require to lie made (o remove all wires from the vicinity of the aerodrome. This work, however, depends on the position of (lie Cobb Valley substation, and 1 have taken up the question of its position with the consulting engineers, Messrs Vickerman and Lancaster.

“Consumers: There is a continued falling off in the number of new consumers, hut in the extension there is a 25 h.p. motor which keeps up our connected load increase nicely. Consumers, previous 866, new 5, present 871. New services, 5; new extensions, 5; connected load, 43.33 k.w.

“Apparatus connected: Water heaters, previous 19, new 1, total 20; motors, previous 268, new 3; total 271. “The increase is not large but steady, and there is evidence of continuance for a month or two.

“Arrangements have been made with the office landlord for water-proofing of the floor, and this work will proceed during January.” WAIMEA SCHEME Mr J. A. Sargent, the Waimea engineer, reported as follows: — “Headworks: Ample water lias been flowing during the month of December. No floods have occurred. “Plant : The new unit came in on permanent load on New Year’s Eve, and is taking the load without any difficulty. The governor is perfect. (Since then this unit iias been running continuously, supplying the whole of usually supplied by tile old unit, and the lower station.) “The lower station has been running continuously from October to the end of December. Heavy fluctuating load during this period caused uneven stretching of the chain. It was found necessary to replace this with a new one. -Adjustments have been made to the plant generally, and it is now ready for service when required. “Units generated for December: Wainiea supply, 15,100 units. “Maximum k.w. demand: Waimea supply, 68 k.w. at 9 p.m., 16th December.

“Applications for supply: (1) Now connections, .136 (132); (2) alterations and additions 268 (256). “Additional connected load from Ist September, 1933, to 31st December, 1935: Light, 78.38 k.w. (72.56 k.w.); heat, 136.13 k.w. (125.53 k.w.); power, 63.01 k.w. (61.26 k.w.). “Distribution and Service Lines; The Stoke lI.T. deviation was energised o» 21st December, 1935, and the old line dismantled. In order to gjve a supply to Messrs British Pavements mixer plant at Bright water, it was necessary to extend the line about 10 chains. A bank of 112 k.v.a. transformers on loan from the Manawatu Oroua Power Board, were dried out and erected at the Waimea Dairy Go’s, structure. Nine new consumers were connected during December. A service line extension to G. Field, Hope, is now being proceeded with. “Maintenance: Several service lines were strained up in the Stoke area.
