WINNING TEAM CONGRATULATED (From Our Own Correspondent) At the conclusion of the Newman Shield match on Monday, Mr Syd Rowling, manager of the Motueka team, expressed pleasure at Motueka’s retention of the trophy. He felt sure, he said, that it would be the means of improving cricket, very considerably, in the district. ■ Mr -Ft. G Davies, manager of the Waimea team, in tendering his congrulu- - lations to, Motueka, remarked that the game had been played in the most friendly spirit. He thanked the Motueka Association for t(ie generous hos-pitality-extended to the members of I fiis team while in Motueka. The Wai- ■ piea Association had watched with interest the progress of cricket in the Motueka district and had sympathised with , Motueka in their past defeats.
