JUNIOR SWIMMERS

JARVIS WINS AGAIN RESULTS OF FINALS IMy Telegraph--Press Association] HAMILTON, 27th January. The New Zealand intermediate and junior swimming championships were continued this evening, when, though no new records were established, uniformly fast times were recorded. The programme was marred by one unfortunate incident, when, with seven competitors swimming without lanes, Aliss Joy Thomson (Otago) and Aliss Nawi Kera (South Auckland) collided shortly after the turn. Aliss Kera then held a commanding lead, but Aliss Alarjory Black (Auckland) seized the opportunity and won. However, the race was later reswum and Aliss Kefa got an easy verdict, but without her expected record-breaking time. She will attempt to lower her own national record for the junior hundred yards. Jarvis gained another easy victory in the intermediate furlong, leaving Pascoe (Auckland) behind at the furlong mark and going on to win as he pleased. Some surprise was created by the success of the Southlander. K. Shaw, over the previous title-holder, G. -P. Chambers (Otago), in the hundred yards intermediate boys’ breaststroke. The pair fought out a great battle, but Chambers found, it impossible to break down Shaw’s early lead. In her heat of the 50 yards junior girls’ free-style championship the Alaori girl, Nawi Kera (South Auckland) equalled the New Zealand record of 29 4-5 in the morning.
