NELSON DISTRICT KENNEL CLUB

SUCCESSFUL RIBBON PARADE

A most successful Ribbon Parade was held in glorious weather last Saturday afternoon. The public rolled up well and were rewarded with seeing some very nice dogs. It was very pleasing to notice that most of the dogs were new and quite a number were novice owners. All are looking forward to the annual show to be held on the 14th March, with Mr Ilincliff as judge. The following were the big ribbon winners:— Best Puppy: Mr John Vitetta's “Holme Shamrock” (Irish Setter). Best Terrier: Miss Pitcaithley's “Peter Pan” (smooth Eoxie). Best Sporting: Mr 11. Pike's “Redwood Gleam” (Greyhound). Best Non-Sporting: Mr H. Brough’s “Eden Excellent” (Imp.) (Collie). Best in Parade: Mr 11. Pike’s “Redwood Gleam.” The judge, Mr A. G. Betts, remarked on the quality of the exhibits, saying that some of them were equal to any shown at the large shows to-day. He found it hard to separate the winning dog from the runner-up, Mr Brough’s r.c. Collie “Eden Excellent” (Imp.), but as the latter had shed its neat it had to contend with second honours. The Greyhound, as usual, was put down in perfect condition.
