The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 25th January, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:—— Tallow market continues quiet; values nominally unchanged. Hemp: Manila market quiet. “K” grade for January-March shipment sold at £23 ss. Sisal: Market quiet. Values of February-April and March-May shipments, £2B 7s 6d. New Zealand: No change to report. Nominal value for llighpoints is unchanged at £2l 10s. Apples: Fair trade. Market well supplied ; slightly easier ’ prices. FROZEN MEAT MARKET Spot stocks of New Zealand frozen meat continue on the short side on the London market, according to the weekly cable received by the Meat | Board, but the tendency is easier m anticipation of larger supplies in the near future. Lightweight wethers are in rather short supply aud remain firm at unchanged prices. Heavyweights are easier. Ewes continue steady and unchanged. The frozen beef marnet is steady and unchanged with slightly better demand owing to better prices of chilled beef. The New Zealand porker pigs market is quiet and unchanged, but the tendency of the market is easier. The spot market for baconers is quiet at slightly lower prices owing to Australian baconers filling a temporary shortage.
