DEPARTURE FOR CANADA
ALL BLACKS RETURNING TRIBUTE FROM ENGLAND The New Zealand Rugby football team is to leave England to-day for Canada, where some special matches will be played before the touring party embarks at Vancouver for Auckland. Neither (he captain (J. E. Manchester) nor J. R. Page will be returning with the team, both having received Ihe New Zealand Rugby Union’s permission to remain behind in England for some little time, Manchester for business reasons and Page to go through a military course. C. J. Oliver will take over the captaincy of the team ou the return trip to New Zealand. An official indication of the impression created hv the team is given in a cablegram received by the New Zealand Rugby Union from the Rugby Football Union, Twickenham, in reply to the congratulatory message sent on England’s fine win over the touring side. The cablegram front Rugby Union headquarters in England states: “Thank you for cable. Grand, hard game enjoyed by all players. Your fellows have upheld best traditions of game throughout tour.” The team is expected to reach Auckland on 17th February. It is possible that Messrs 3. S. Dean and J. Prendeville, delegates to the Rugby conferences, will return from England via Australia.
