Dr. E. Kidson, Director of Meteorological Services, left Wellington yesterday for Auckland on route to England and Europe to attend forthcomiilg meteorological conferences. Mr David M. Tombs, M.Sc., of Wellington, is now in the famous Hertz laboratory, Berlin. He is an old boy of Nelson College and won a Blair Fellowship from London University, giving him a year’s research study abroad. He chose to go to Germany and had six months in Munich studying shortwave wireless previous to joining the staff of tlie Hertz Institute, which is subsidised by the German Government and wireless industry, and is devoted to osmlla tion investigation of all kinds—electrical, mechanical and acousticad.
The death occurred this week of Mr Norman McLean, son of Mr and Mrs A oil McLean, and brother of Mrs Ernest Blundell. The iate Mr McLean was educated at Nelson College. He leaves t T C vr,/V IaU^ hter of the late Hon. J. A. Millar), and one daughter.
