SEVENTY CREWS PARTICIPATE SENIOR FOURS WON BY STAR. (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. About seventy crews took part in the Wellington rowing regatta on Saturday. For the fourth time in harbour regattas this season the weather was not the best. The .water was inclined to be choppy and there were frequent strong off-shore squalls. The results were:— Maiden pairs: Wellington 1, Star 2, Wairau 3. Won by one and a half lengths. Lightweight maiden fours : Wellington No. 1 1, Union jW.flhganui) 2,Aramoho 3. Won by three-quarters of a length. Junior pairs: Petone No. 1 1, Petone No. 22, Union (Wanganui) 3. Won by a canvas. Maiden fours: Star 1, Wellington 2, Wanganui 3. Won by two and a half lengths. Senior single sculls: Union (Wanganui) (Jackson) 1, Petone (Abbott) 2, Aramoho (Campbell) 3. Won by about two lengths. Junior welter fours: Aramoho 4 Picton 2, Union (Christchurch) 3. Won by a length. fours: Star 1, Aramoho 2, Union (Wanganui) 3. Won by a length. Youths’ fours: Petone 1, Picton 2, Wanganui 3. Won by two lengths. Maiden double sculls: Star 1, Petone 2, Union (Wanganui) 3. Won by three and a half lengths. Junior fours: Picton 1, Star 2, Union (Wanganui) 3, The boats were closely bunched early in the race and there were two fouls affecting the Star, Aramoho and Union crews. There were no protests. Picton were rowing well from the start and kept a little ahead of the other five boats. From about half way Star and Union battled for second place still well within striking distance of Picton, who won by half a canvas.
Junior singles: Wellington 1. Union (Wanganui) 2, Petone No. 13. Won by a length.
