The Rev. Donald Haultain, Vicar c: All Saints, is at present in Christchurch on a holiday exchange with the Rev. H. T. York, of St. Peters. Upper Riccarton. The Rev. Mr York, while in Nelson, is staying with his brother, Mr H. York, at Bishopdale. Mr S. E. McGregor, district Inspector of Factories at Nelson, leaves Nelson to-morrow night on transfer to the Wanganui office of the Labour Department. The vacancy at Nelson will be fiilled by Mr J. Mclvor, who has arrived in the city from Whangarei. Mr S. N. Johnston, Inspector of Machinery at Nelson has transferred to Wellington to a similar appointment and his place in the Nelson office has been filled by Mr E. Hargrave, of-Hamilton, vvbo was chief inspector of Machinery for South Auckland.

Miss Kitty Johnston, daughter of Dr. end Mrs W. D. Stoney Johnston, who has been in the United States and England studying commercial art and dress designing has returned to Nelson, accompanied by her cousin Miss Dorothy Jump. The honorary degree of Doctor of Literature was conferred on Diamond Jenness by the Senate of the University of New Zealand on the recommendation of the Academic Board (states a Christchurch Press Association message today). Mr Jenness was formerly a student of Victoria University College, graduating M.A., in 1908 with first-class honours in classics. He is at present chief of the Anthropological Section under the Canadian Government and in charge of the Anthropological Department of the Canadian National Museum, Ontario.
