.Men’s singles championship, quarterfinals; Jiupmau (Australia) defeated Aienzel (Czechoslovakia) 4-6, 1-6 6-2, 6-1, 6-4. Quist (Australia) defeated Kirby (South Africa) 6-3, 6-0, 6-2. Perry (England) defeated Moon (Australia) 6-0, 7-5, 6-4. Crawford (Australia) defeated Thompson (Australia) 6-2, 6-1, 6-1.

Women’s singles, quarter-finals: Miss Hartigan (Australia) defeated Airs Hopman (Australia) 6-8, 6-1, 6-3. Airs Westmocott (Australia) defeated Miss 'Dearmau (England) 12-10. 6-3. Aliss Lyle (England) defeated Aliss Bickerton (Australia) 6-4, 8-6. Aliss Round (England) defeated Airs Aioleswcrth (Australia) 6-1, 6-2. Alixed doubles, quarter-finals: Hopman and Airs liopman defeated Alaier and Aliss Hartigan 6-2. 6-4. Kirby and Aliss Lyle defeated Hughes and Aliss Dearman 7-5, 6-2. Aienzel and Aliss Bickerton defeated Quist and Aliss Valkenburg 1-6, 6-4, 10-8. Perry and Miss Round defeated Dunlop and Airs Westniacott 6-3, 6-4.

Hopniaii played brilliantly in the last three sets to beat Aienzel whose form showed great improvement. Perry overwhelmed Aloon in the first- set and after that played steadily and won comfortably. Crawford’s form was most impressive. He was bitting his service with great power, driving well on both wings. Quist followed good length drives to the net when lie volleyed in great style against Kirby. The South African’s forehand shots frequently found the net.

A feature of to-day’s play in the New South Wales tennis championships which .were continued in hot weather was the elimination of the Australian women’s singles champion, Aliss Hartigan, at the hands of the tall Queenslander, Airs Westmacott. Results. Alen’s singles, semi-finals: Crawford defeated Hopman 8-6, 0-6, 6-4, 6-3. Perry defeated Quist 6-3, 6-1, 6-3. Women’s singles, semi-finals: Airs Westmacott defeated Aliss Hartigan 7-5, 6-4. ’ Aliss Round defeated Aliss Lvle 7-5, 6-3.

Alen’s doubles, quarter-finals: Hopman and Alaier defeated Aienzel and Moon 6-3, 6-2, 8-6. Kirby and Quist defeated Dunlop and Donohue 6-4, 6-2, 7-5. Crawford and McGrath defeated Thompson and Moore 6-4, 6-4, 6-1. Perry and Hughes defeated Walker and Sproude 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. Women’s doubles, quarter finals: — Alesdames Westmacott and Molesworth- defeated Misses Dingle and Coyne 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 ; ' Misses Hartigan and Bickerton defeated Alisses Hattersley and Selwin 5-7, 7-5, 6-1. The Crawford-Hopman -singles was a poor match and unimpressive.
